Congratulations to Cypriot writer–director Myrsini Aristidou and the team behind “Hold Onto Me (Krata Me – Κράτα Με)” for making history as the first 🇨🇾 feature film selected for the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival in Utah, USA, with the film’s world premiere on January 26, a milestone for Cypriot cinema on the global stage. We are proud to highlight the 🇺🇸 involvement in this remarkable project with joint participation from the United States. Ms. Aristidou, a graduate from Pratt Institute in New York and NYU Tisch School of the Arts shared, “My studies and experiences in the U.S. gave me the creative tools, confidence, and global perspective to bring this story to life. I am grateful for the opportunities and inspiration I found there, which have been instrumental in this achievement.”
As we celebrate 250 years of American history in 2026, we are sharing American culture. The United States remains a global engine of innovation, creativity, and cultural leadership. Uniquely American cultural exports like film inspire audiences worldwide and create shared experiences that connect us all. #Freedom250 Υφυπουργείο Πολιτισμού – Deputy Ministry of Culture CY
